Interschools Showjumping League

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Clonshire is again proud to be hosting a stage of the Hoofprints Interschools Showjumping League. This year the Clonshire date is Sunday October 31st and in the run up to the competition and during the midterm break, Dan will be holding training clinics for both teams and individuals.

This is a great oportunity to represent your school and you do not have to own your own horse or pony as you can hire one at the centre. It is a good idea if you are not a rider here at Clonshire and you are hiring a horse or pony that you come and ride the horse before the competition so that you can get used to its way of going.

For those of you interested in taking part, all you need to do is request a copy of the entry form from the office, fill it out, have your schools principal sign it and return it with the correct entry fee.

Dress code is simply your school jumper and shirt (tie if one is part of your uniform). You do not need a riding jacket. Jodhpurs, boots and your hat. Gloves are a good idea if you have a pair and remember to tie your hair up.

Last year Ciara, Lauren, Kate and Kelsey from the Crescent College Comprehensive school won the best turned out prize section as well as doing very well individually and as a team.

If you are not riding, you can always come and watch and support your school by cheering them on.

Anne, a native from New York and learned to ride when she was sixty. Anne now has her own horse and came to visit us to try out the Irish Sport horse and our cross country course. Anne loved our friendly busy atmosphere and stayed around to groom the horses and even gave Giselle an energy healing session! It was amazing to watch. She is going to come back to us for a longer visit next time.

Limerick Pony Club C+ Test

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Some photographs from the recent Limerick Pony Club C+ Test held at Clonshire Equestrian Centre.

Last weekend saw the County Limerick Hunt branch of the pony club do their C+ test in Clonshire. Most of the participants have grown up at Clonshire and it was great to see them all so well turned out and prepared. Needless to say they all passed!

Yvonne has spent many weeks over the summer getting them ready for the C+ and was so proud of all her students.

Both Sue & Yvonne were on hand on the day with advice and moral support.

Visiting lady horseriders

Monday, September 13th, 2010
We have a wonderful lady from America staying with us this week Lisa, and she is having a blast on River one of our younger horses. Lisa is staying with us on our “adult camp” and as a she wished to travel alone this option suited her very well. As guests are staying on site at the centre with the Foley family and other like minded travellers they are free talk horse as much as they like and to people who know that a rug is not something you put on the floorJ We have been introducing Lisa to some of our regular riders as well as some of the other guests who have visited the centre during the week.
In the photo with Lisa (who is on River by the way) is Susan from the UK who is staying in the village but riding at the centre (on Faith).
We have also had three lovely ladies from Portugal visit us this week to ride at the centre while passing through the village.
