Therapeutic Riding Facility.

Clonshire Equestrian Centre can offer therapeutic riding and full disabled riding facilities.

Our newly purpose build arena and stables enable us to offer

  • Equine Assisted Learning
  • Riding for the disabled
  • Pony interaction
  • Special needs riding

It has long been a wish of Sue Foley to have a dedicated therapeutic riding facility at the centre and after many years work and with the help of West Limerick Resources we have now a 20 X 40 indoor arena and stabling all under the same roof.  This unit has been built with ease of access in mind and we have horses and ponies that are very calm and quiet.

Equine Assisted Learning has become a very effective development tool and Sue has taken courses in this with EAGLA.

Not all of our clients wish to ride and for those who do not we offer pony interaction sessions.  This is where clients spend time quietly alone or in groups with the horses and ponies.  There will be one of our instructors there at all times and we have had great feedback from Enable Ireland who was the first group to take part in this.

Some of our groups have progressed to riding on their own (not having to be led from the ground) and some are trotting and one or two have even moved on to cantering.

Tuition is very fun based and progress is made by encouragement and enjoyment.
